Salary: $17.35 an hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)
Hours: Monday - Saturday, Variable hours from 4:15 AM to 7:00 PM
Evenings/Weekends Possible. Variable
Probationary Period: 120 Days

Minimum Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent. Ability to work with the public. Knowledge of Commercial Driver's License requirements and Department of Transportation laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to calculate decimals, fractions, and percentages. Ability to read and write common vocabulary. Ability to keep accurate records, define problems, collate data, establish alternatives, and draw valid conclusions. Must have and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement. Duties are normally performed seated in a moving vehicle, but requires standing and walking at will. Must be able to stoop and squat to secure wheelchairs safely. Job requires good hearing and visual acuity. Work is performed in transit vehicle with normal accommodations. Must be able to move or lift packages weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Duties:
Operate a transit or other vehicle as required according to state and federal regulations with attention to safe, efficient, customer service oriented operations. Provide assistance to customers entering or exiting the vehicle as necessary. Maintain accurate records of fares charged, fuel used, miles traveled, hours logged, and passengers transported. Perform minor service of vehicle prior to starting route each day by checking fluid levels, etc. Submit to DOT/FTA program regulations as required. Participate in training and safety programs as directed. Operate radio to communicate with dispatch for passenger issues, no-shows, traffic/road conditions, detours, delays, accidents/incidents and mechanical problems. In an office setting operate telephone and computer to notify passengers of upcoming trips. Receive complaints from passengers and forward information to the immediate supervisor. Clean interior and exterior of transit vehicles and other department vehicles as assigned. Works alone or with other persons in short- or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of any county supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Participates in cross-training and maintains proficiency in area of cross-training as necessary. New and other related duties as assigned. Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor.
