Develop a comprehensive library media program that engages students, promotes reading, and encourages the utilization of library resources.
Foster a welcoming environment that encourages students to utilize the library for reading, research, and homework.
Develop and maintain a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies of the school community.
Supervise the library and ensure the safety and well-being of the students while in the library.
Develop and coordinate initiatives that promote reading throughout the school and encourage active engagement between all students and library resources.
Identify innovative reading, research and library media trends and incorporate resources and programs that reflect best practice.
Manage the purchasing, organizing, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of library resources including books, textbooks, Chromebooks, hotspots, calculators, and equipment.
Efficiently manage the library budget to provide the most appropriate and effective resources for students throughout the year.
Provide instruction to students on reading strategies, research skills, and media literacy based on Library Media standards.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students' learning needs.
Actively participate in building initiatives for leadership, vision, culture, school improvement, communication, and learning.
Share appropriate library media knowledge and skills with teachers, students, families, and community members.
Stay knowledgeable on school technology devices and programs in order to support teachers and students in using technology.
Qualifications
Master's Degree
Valid AR teaching license (Library Media)
Clean background check
Effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of relevant technology
Physical requirements*
Be able to stand for the majority of the school day in order to effectively monitor and supervise students
Be able to sit, stand, lean, reach, bend, lift and squat to assist students as needed
Be able to walk on uneven surfaces
Be able to walk up and down stairs
Be outside in all weather conditions for assigned duty (recess, before school drop offs, after school pick- ups and field trips)

Reports to: Assistant Principal/Principal
Contract: 190 days is a full contract for this position. It will be prorated for the 25-26 school year.
